Meet Your Instructor

Welcome to Roe! I’m Mia — founder and lead instructor at Roe Pilates.

As a former collegiate athlete with a background ACL rehabilitation, I’ve always been drawn to intentional training and the way movement can build confidence both physically and mentally. Becoming a Pilates instructor made me realize how much I loved the personal side of teaching, too, building relationships with clients, helping them grow stronger, and creating sessions designed around each person and their goals. Starting Roe Pilates has been such a dream of mine, and I’m so excited to grow my very own studio into a space that feels welcoming, encouraging, and fun.

  • One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching clients find their confidence and seeing their strength and skill grow over time. There’s nothing better than watching someone surprise themselves with what they’re capable of.

I wanted Roe to feel like a place people genuinely look forward to coming to — good energy, challenging classes, supportive people, and a space that leaves you feeling stronger every time you walk out the door. I can’t wait to grow this little community and meet all of you along the way.

Livi Elliot has been practicing Pilates for more than 20 years. Her training in classical ballet has provided her an acute awareness of the body and how the fundaments of Pilates impact such vital processes such as core, strength, posture, and physical alignment. Livi brings her knowledge, experience and enthusing to Roe Pilates as a certified Balanced Body Reformer instructor. Originally from North Carolina, Livi attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. Livi and her husband, Jeremy, relocated to Simons Island in 2011 with their two sons Hudson and Jack McCarter and enjoy all that our special community has to offer.

Marie Artman has over 40 years of experience in dance and fitness. She holds degrees in Dance Therapy and Exercise Physiology and has taught, performer, and worked as a Creative Movement Instructor. She also served as head instructor for Richard Simmons. In 1990, she founded The Pilates Loft, in Saint Simons Island and is certified through Polestar Education, with additional training from Zena Rommett.

Junior is our resident yellow lab and a beloved part of the Roe team. With his gentle nature and love of belly rubs, he never fails to make everyone feel welcomed and at ease. He enjoys making new friends and is always happy to offer a wagging tail or a comforting presence.

When he's not greeting clients, you can usually find him hanging out by the front desk with his mom, Mia, keeping a watchful eye on the studio. Whether he's snoozing nearby or soaking up attention, Junior brings a little extra warmth, joy, and calm to every visit. He can't wait to meet you!
